How to Manage Any Manager

We all have “bosses.”  In fact, one of the tricks to good client service is treating a wide array of people as your boss.  It works with business colleagues, clients, law partners and even, on rare occasion, spouses (a little humor goes a long way).

However, not all of the real managers of us are good at it. In fact, my theory is that most companies pick someone really good at something substantive and promote them to manage others, thereby removing them from their comfort zone of “doing” and thrusting them, usually unprepared, into the role of “managing those who do.”
