Being a GC and Client Service

In her article, “Through the Looking Glass: How being a GC impacts my approach to client service” published in the on-line INSIDE COUNSEL Jan. 28, 2015 magazine, former BB&T Corporation GC M. Patricia (“Pat”) Oliver gives her top six lessons learned that she utilizes on a nearly daily basis and that can strengthen client relationships.  In short, her lessons are:

  1.  Become adept at identifying and mitigating risk
  2.  Be an active listener
  3.  Be respectful of culture
  4.  Be a true business partner
  5.  Be a calming influence in the face of a storm
  6.  Put your leadership training and planning skills to good use
